7 REASONS A SIDE GIG MIGHT BE FOR YOU
Have you ever considered taking on a side gig? Wondering what a side gig is?

A side gig is something you do ‘on the side’ of your primary job. It’s flexible, on-demand work that can be done around your main career. In June 2018, a Bankrate survey found that 37 percent of Americans have a side gig.

So, is a side gig right for you?

Here are some interesting reasons 4 out of 10 Americans choose to take on a side gig.

  1. 1. Passion
When a main source of income does not line up with your passions, a side gig is a great way to feed that passion. This is your opportunity to do something you love.

  1. 2. Experience
A side gig is a great way to expand your skill set and gain experience you cannot gain in your 9-5 job.

  1. 3. Fill a void
A side gig can give you a place to use skills you have that aren’t needed for your main job but you miss being able to use them.

  1. 4.Community
Being around like-minded people is motivating and fulfilling. A side gig can offer you a community experience where you can bond with people who share your passions, likes or vision.

  1. 5. Quality of Life
Things like vacations, weekend trips or early retirement are often out of reach with living on a 9-5 paycheck. A side gig opens up the opportunities to do more!

  1. 6. Career Options
If moving up the career ladder in your main job is limited, a side gig can be the entry into future career options.

  1. 7. Income
When there is limited income growth with a main job, a side gig will give you an avenue to increase your income stream beyond those limitations.
Do Something On Purpose Today...
Wondering if a side gig might be for you? Here are a few self-coaching questions to help…

Do you get out of bed every day excited to go to work or is your work    life void of passion and excitement?

  • Do you feel fulfilled or empty?
  •
  • Do you miss a community of like-minded people?

  • Looking ahead 1 to 5 years from now, what does your life look like if nothing changes in your career or income? Are you happy with this answer?

  • Is the life you see the life you want? If not, how important is it for you to do something now to see the change you desire later?
